Canterbury

In the wake of the earthquakes we pledged $6 million dollars to help the region rebuild. In September 2010, our initial $1 million donation was assigned by Christchurch mayor Bob Parker towards the rebuild of the city’s historic buildings. That money has since been allocated to preserving the historic McKenzie and Willis building facade (pictured) on High Street.

After the 6.3 magnitude earthquake on February 22, 2011, an additional $5 million was pledged towards the rebuild and recovery in the region. More than NZ$160,000 was contributed by our employees from around the world, and has been donated to various charities assisting Canterbury. A number of other internal initiatives run by business units resulted in further funds being raised and donated.

Fletcher Construction is also playing key roles in the repair and rebuild of Christchurch through Fletcher EQR and Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Recovery Team.
