National Association of Women in Construction Awards

Fletcher Building celebrates three winners and three highly commended in the second annual Hays NAWIC Excellence Awards. The winners have been hailed as “inspirational leaders who are passionate about changing the construction sector”. The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements women are making in New Zealand’s construction industry.

Fletcher winners are: 

Outstanding leadership and a commitment to putting people first saw Lynne Makepeace of Fletcher Construction win the Professional Woman of the Year Award. Recognised as an “incredibly effective leader”, Lynne leads a team of 180 to ensure that the Auckland’s $1.5B Waterview Connection project is completed on time, on budget and with zero harm to the team. Her high standards and outstanding team leadership skills inspired the judging team.

Gemma Collins of Fletcher Construction were named joint winners of the Outstanding Achievement in Design Award. Gemma, who manages a team of 35 building services engineers, is credited with playing a lead role in securing the Commercial Bay contract. The Auckland tower will be the tallest office building in New Zealand when completed. Judges praised Gemma’s use of sustainable design solutions and her ongoing leadership in engineering throughout her 25-year career.

The Excellence in Construction Administration Award went to Carolyn Pitman of Fletcher Construction. Described as the “go to guru” for policies and processes, Carolyn successfully deals with a wide range of subcontractors and plays a pivotal role in her team.

Mico Bathrooms was the exclusive partner for the bathroom fixtures and fittings ON season five of New Zealand's popular TV3 renovation show, The Block NZ in 2016.


Mico is showcasing their range of products in the show's bathroom and ensuite weeks.

All four teams produced high quality, luxurious bathrooms using Mico's range of products.

Mico wasn't the only FB business featured on the show - Winstone Wallboards, Firth, and Fletcher Aluminium join Mico in specialist episodes, including kitchens, bathrooms, ensuites, and outdoor areas.
